°hf Tuppa: Premium neoprene cockpit cover for safe transport
°hf Tuppa: Fuel Efficiency and a Clean Kayak
When transporting kayaks on the roof of a car, a high-quality neoprene cockpit cover with a snug fit should be every paddler’s first choice. The Tuppa model from the German brand °hf effectively reduces wind resistance, thereby significantly saving fuel and eliminating the annoying noise caused by aerodynamic turbulence (whistling). It’s also great for storing your kayak at home, keeping the interior safe from insects, dust, and rain.
4 mm neoprene, 9.5 mm rubber, and a safety strap
°hf didn't just create an ordinary cover; it used materials from its top-of-the-line spray decks to ensure maximum durability and functionality:
- 4mm multi-stretch neoprene: A durable and flexible material. Thanks to its pre-stressed design, the flaps fit perfectly on the collar and do not allow rainwater to pool there.
- 9.5 mm rubber edging: The sturdy rubber strap, designed for polyethylene (PE) kayaks, keeps the cover securely in place even in strong winds on the highway.
- Safety strap: A small but extremely clever detail. The cover is equipped with a strap for attaching it to the backrest. If you put the cover on incorrectly and it accidentally opens while you're driving, it will remain attached to the backrest and you won't lose it.
- Large central handle: To easily remove the cover from the collar upon arrival at the destination.
- Reflective print: To increase the boat's visibility in the dark.
Why Use a Collar Cover?
This unassuming but highly functional accessory is an absolute must-have for:
- Long-distance transportation: It turns the inside of the kayak into extra storage space for lightweight gear and prevents the kayak from turning into a pool of water when it rains.
- Long-term storage (winter storage): It keeps the inside of the kayak completely clean and protected from rodents and dirt.

Expert Advice and Product Care: When installing the cover, we recommend always following these steps: 1. First, snap the safety strap into the backrest. 2. Then begin pulling the rear edge of the cover over the cockpit collar behind the seat. 3. Smoothly pull the elastic along the sides all the way to the front tip of the collar. If you are storing the kayak for the winter, make sure its interior (especially the foam backrests and seat padding) is completely dry before putting the cover on—this will prevent mold from forming inside the kayak. Protect the cover from prolonged exposure to harsh UV rays when it is not in use.
