Astral Willis 515

Astral Willis 515: A versatile, low-profile life jacket for freestyle, packrafting, and SUP

Astral Willis 515: Versatile Low-Profile PFD

The new Astral Willis 515 life jacket is the ideal choice for whitewater paddlers, packrafters, and paddleboarders who demand the perfect combination of light weight, compact pack size, and reliable buoyancy. It offers approximately 60 N of buoyancy (CE ISO 12402-5 certified) and weighs only about 600–660 g, making it perfect for situations where every gram and every centimeter of volume counts.

Freestyle Tectonics and the pullover entry

The vest's ergonomic design emphasizes uncompromising mobility of the upper body:

• Freestyle Tectonics construction: It keeps the vest securely in place on the body even during dynamic paddling and Eskimo rolls, without sliding up toward the head.
• Pullover (pulled over the head): The absence of a front zipper means that the front panel is perfectly smooth, doesn't dig into the kayak, and doesn't restrict movement.
• Soft kapok panels: This natural material, combined with PVC-free Gaia® and PE foam, naturally conforms to the body's shape and ensures maximum comfort.
• Rear panel with Airmesh ventilation: The combination of 200×400D ripstop nylon and a Hydro-Vent mesh panel ensures excellent ventilation for your back on hot days.

Smart Features: Pocket, heated hand warmer, and H2O compatibility

The minimalist design conceals a surprisingly extensive and useful set of features:

• Low-profile main compartment: It safely holds a knife, an energy bar, or a small first-aid kit without unnecessarily increasing the vest's bulk.
• Integrated loops (key loop & knife tab): A way to securely clip your keys and always have a survival knife on hand.
• Fleece-Lined Hand Warmer: An insulated inner compartment for your hands—something you'll appreciate while waiting on the shore or belaying in cold water.
• Hydration compatibility: The back panel is fully equipped for use with a hydration bladder, making it easy to stay hydrated.

What is this vest ideal for?

Thanks to its versatile design, this vest is a great choice for:

• Freestyle and playboating: An extremely low profile and freedom of movement for the paddlers when navigating rapids.
• Packrafting and Expeditions: Lightweight, easy to pack into a backpack, and designed to accommodate a hydration bladder.
• Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and Sea Kayaking: Keeping the upper half of the body relaxed makes technical strokes easier.
• Rafting on calm rivers: A comfortable fit for all-day paddling on the water up to a difficulty level of approximately WW III.
