Caleya or Swing 1? Comparison of models

Not sure which kayak is better for you? The Gumotex Caleya is very similar in length, weight and handling characteristics to the popular Gumotex Swing 1in a semi-closed cockpit the Caley model, which greatly facilitates entry and exit. It provides a greater sense of freedom, making it more accessible for less flexible riders.

Use and behaviour on the water

With its hydrodynamic shape, distinctive keel and removable directional fin, the Caleya is very versatile:

• Quiet lakes and reservoirs: The directional fin (tracking fin) and the pronounced keel ensure that the kayak keeps a perfectly straight course. Longer stretches on lakes can be comfortably handled, although it is not primarily as fast as longer touring kayaks.
• Gently flowing rivers: Excellent maneuverability allows you to easily zigzag between meanders and enjoy hiking downhill. On smaller and narrower rivers, the Caleya feels completely at home.
• Wild Water (Rapids to WW2): The kayak is also certified for moderately heavy water (WW2). For its size, it is very fast and agile, responds accurately, remains always well controlled and reliably forgives any riding mistakes.

Key elements of the ship's design and equipment

To provide maximum performance and safety, the kayak is fully equipped with modern design features:

• Improved bow design: The innovative shape provides more legroom and ensures much better water cutting.
• Air chamber system and valves: The hull consists of three main air chambers (two side cylinders and a bottom) equipped with high quality push-push valves. The bottom also includespressure relief valvewhich protects the boat from cracking when overheating in the sun. The procedure of inflation is precisely given in the manual - it is followed mainly to avoid unwanted twisting of the boat during pressurization (it does not affect the overall strength of the boat).
• Metal reinforcements: Unique feature of the Caleya model. Reinforcements are installed in the inner sleeves before full inflation.Front brace (included) holding the deck and expanding it. For more challenging conditions, the kayak can be supplemented with an additional rear metal brace (available for purchase) that further expands the boat, making it even more stable.
• Distinctive keel and directional fin: The pronounced keel in combination with the directional fin (installed in the handle on the bottom in the blown state) guarantees excellent directional hold.
• Safety features: The kayak is equipped with safety ropes on the bow and stern and handles for easy handling and carrying.

Caleya is certified for1 person with a total load capacity ofup to 120 kg. The spacious interior offers superior comfort even for long-stayers -even paddlers over 190 cm tall will not feel cramped.

• Adjustable footrest: It allows for an individual and ergonomic position that promotes efficient power transfer when paddling. Firm support is provided by a stable two-point attachment.
• Comfortable seat: The inflatable seat with high back support (equipped with its own push-push valve) makes paddling comfortable even on longer trips.
• A smaller bag with personal belongings can be easily stowed behind the seat or in the front of the boat.

Durable NITRILON® material

Kayak is made of premium materialNITRILON®. It is a high-strength PES fabric coated on both sides with natural and synthetic rubber.

• High resistance: The material tolerates contact with obstacles in the river very well and is highly resistant to abrasion, which guarantees reliability even during intensive use (however, care should always be taken and sharp objects should be avoided).
• Design and visibility: The modern and distinctive design (yellow with black deck or black with green deck) ensures excellent visibility on the water.
• UV protection and maintenance: The material resists sunlight well. For maximum durability, we recommend using the care products from our range and protecting the boat from extreme temperature fluctuations. Repair minor defects yourself with the included adhesive kit.

Easy assembly and transport

Kayaking is the epitome of freedom and simplicity. Once deflated, it folds easily into a compact transport bag measuring just55 × 42 × 25 cm. With the weight12 kg you can easily carry it on your back to the water, load it into the trunk of a small car or take it on the train. For storage after the season, we recommend a clean and dry environment with a stable climate.

The manufacturer provides for all newly purchased boatsfree extended 5-year warranty to the ship itself. The warranty covers all manufacturing defects and material defects (seams, valves) under normal recreational use. Safety and children

What does Difficulty Grade WW 2 mean?
Grade WW 2 (Moderately Heavy Water) refers to rivers with irregular waves and currents, medium rapids, pools and eddies or low grades. There are minor obstacles (rocks) to avoid, but the route is clearly visible. The kayak is certified for these conditions, but it always depends on the skill and judgement of the rider.

Recommended Water Conditions and Threats (WARNING):
The kayak excels in sheltered waters. A major safety warning applies to large bodies of water (seas, lakes) where you must take carebeware of currents and offshore winds. There is a risk of being prevented from returning! The CALEYA kayak must not be used in difficult conditions such as extreme weather, reduced visibility and storms.

Can children use the kayak safely?
The more open design and easy access design make Caleya very suitable for older children. For safety reasons, however, there is a strict rule thatchildren under 12 years of age may only use the product under the direct supervision of an adult. The user (and child) must ALWAYS have a life jacket on correctly and have basic paddling skills.
Note on maintenance: The kayak is equipped with a small drain/spill hole at the stern. This servesexclusively for spilling water and cleaning the boat on the shore, it is in no way intended for use (self-bailing) when operating on the water.

Recommended safety equipment:
An approved life jacket with appropriate buoyancy (usually 50N for swimmers) is an absolute must. A helmet (for WW 2 rivers), a throw bag and a working communicator (mobile phone in a waterproof case) are also recommended.
