Gumotex Thaya - key features

Thaya (410 × 89 cm, 17.5 kg, 230 kg capacity) is an innovative inflatable kayak from Gumotex that combines the advantages of NITRILON® with Dropstitch technology. This makes the kayak's handling characteristics significantly closer to a rigid boat, while remaining lightweight, collapsible and easily portable. The kayak can be configured for one or two adults, or two adults and a child, making it an extremely versatile choice for families and individuals. It is suitable for recreational paddling on lakes, calm rivers up to WW2 and sea coves with an optional front deck. Gumotex boats are covered by5 years warranty after registration.

Hull, stability and handling

Thanks to Dropstitch technology, the bottom of the Thaya is extremely strong and stable, even under high loads. The high-pressure chambers create a perfectly flat and rigid surface with excellent directional stability. The 89 cm width and the overall hull shape designed for efficient gliding provide a good balance between speed and stability. Combined with the directional fin, Thaya is very maneuverable even in moderate current or wind on an open lake. Thanks to Dropstitch, it holds its shape with every stroke, which increases paddling efficiency and comfort during the ride.

Materials used

NITRILON® is a three-layer material consisting of an outer layer of synthetic rubber, a polyester reinforcement and an inner PVC layer. It offers resistance to abrasion, UV, salt and fresh water and most chemicals. It is environmentally friendly (phthalate free), easy to repair and very strong.
Dropstitch is the technology used for the bottom and seat. It consists of two layers of fabric bonded together with thousands of polyester fibres. When inflated to high pressure (up to 0.5 bar), an extremely strong, rigid and flat structure is created. The combination of these two technologies creates a kayak that rivals rigid boats in handling characteristics, while remaining compact and lightweight.
