HIKO Camel 87: Versatile expedition spray skirt with a fastening system

HIKO Camel 87: The Perfect Choice for Sea Kayaking and Touring

The Camel 87 model from the renowned Czech manufacturer HIKO is designed specifically for sea kayakers and enthusiasts of multi-day water tours. Compared to the older version (model 62900), it features an improved and modified cut of the neoprene suit that better fits the contours of modern cockpits measuring approximately 87 cm. This “combi” design ensures that you’ll stay dry without sweating excessively during physical exertion.

Neoprene deck and breathable nylon hood

The design combines two distinct technologies into a single, highly functional unit:

• Neoprene deck (pad): It ensures maximum strength and prevents the deck from buckling under the force of the waves (preventing the formation of so-called “water troughs”).
• Internal adhesive coating: The underside of the neoprene pad is coated with a material that significantly improves waterproofing around the collar and prevents the spray deck from slipping off unintentionally.
• Nylon chimney: It provides unique ventilation comfort. On hot days, you can roll the hood down as much as you like while riding, which provides excellent breathability.
• Drawstring tunnel and suspenders: When the weather turns bad, simply pull the hood up using the adjustable straps and tighten the drawstring around the waist—this ensures perfect waterproofing and protection from the rain.

Onboard storage system for essentials

On an expedition, you need to keep an eye on your essential items at all times:

• Integrated mounts: The top surface of the neoprene deck features plastic loops fitted with sturdy rubber grips. This system allows you to quickly and securely attach a laminated map, compass, sponge, or waterproof phone case directly in front of the rider.

What is the ideal use for a spray deck?

Thanks to its well-thought-out "combi" design, the HIKO Camel 87 is perfect for:

• Sea kayaking and coastal cruises: Secure map mounting and reliable protection against ocean waves.
• Touring on large lakes and rivers: The flexibility of the nylon hood ensures all-day comfort in changing weather conditions.
• Expeditions and multi-day trips: The combination of durable neoprene and breathable nylon reduces fatigue caused by overheating.
