• Minimum foam thickness on the chest: In the front section, the vest uses foam that is only 20 mm thick—the absolute minimum allowed by ICF rules. The thinner profile minimizes the distance between the athlete’s body and the slalom pole.
• Reduced volume for larger sizes: The original version had a load capacity that varied by size. In the Redwood version, even the L/XL and XXL sizes have the foam reduced to an optimal volume corresponding to size S/M, which significantly slims down the rider’s silhouette.
• External foam cushion: Part of the load-bearing capacity is transferred to an external cushion that slides into a pocket on the spray deck (spray skirt). Once in place, the cushion fits perfectly below the collar line. It is securely attached to the vest with an elastic neoprene strap that keeps the vest in place even during maximum head extension.
• Extended arms and torso: The vest is thinner in profile and longer in the torso. The extended shoulders allow the foam insert to drop as close to the deck as possible, which completely eliminates any restriction of movement when leaning back.
