Hiko Lil Sender: Waterproof Kids' Pants for Little Adventurers
Hiko Lil Sender: Comprehensive Protection for Children
The Lil Sender model is conceptually based on the very popular Quest model for adults. Hiko focused on providing children with the same high-quality protection against water and wind as that available to adult paddlers. The pants serve as an excellent insulating layer that keeps water from reaching the body, whether the child is sitting in a canoe or running along a damp shore. When paired with the right children’s jacket, they create an almost perfect drysuit.
Material and Construction: Durability and Freedom of Movement
When it comes to children's clothing, it's essential that it be not only durable but also comfortable and soft:
- ION two-layer fabric: The pants are made from a modern two-layer fabric that is highly resistant to tearing and abrasion, yet remains very flexible. This means the pants do not restrict the child’s natural movement in any way.
- Low weight: The material is lightweight and easy to pack, so the pants take up almost no space in the boat and your child won't be carrying any unnecessary weight.
Comfort and Features: Suspenders and a Pocket for Treasures
Details that will delight both parents and the little explorers themselves:
- Adjustable straps: Thanks to the straps, the pants never slip down and provide excellent protection for the lower back against the wind. The straps can also be adjusted to any length, so the pants can “grow” with your child.
- Waistband: The elastic waistband ensures that the pants fit comfortably and don't bunch up anywhere.
- Front pocket with Velcro closure: A small but very important detail! The handy pocket on the chest is perfect for stashing a quick snack or the pebbles and treasures you find during a break on the shore.
What are these pants suitable for?
These pants offer a wide range of year-round uses:
- Family Kayaking Trips: Essential gear for canoeing or rafting on rivers in the Czech Republic and abroad.
- Spending Time Outdoors in Bad Weather: The perfect protection for kids while camping, on rainy outings, or when jumping in autumn puddles.
- Boating Clubs: A great, durable piece of clothing for young beginner kayakers during spring and fall training sessions.

Expert advice: For maximum protection against wind, rain, and splashing water, we highly recommend the Hiko Lil Sender pants Pair with the Hiko Young Gun kids' water sports jacket. Always pull the jacket over the pants—that way, water will run smoothly down the jacket without seeping into the waistband. Since kids grow quickly, the adjustable suspenders are a huge advantage. Feel free to choose a slightly larger size—the pant legs can easily be cinched at the ankles, and the shoulder straps can be shortened. This way, the pants will last your little adventurer through several consecutive paddling seasons. After paddling in a dirty river, always rinse the clothing with fresh water to extend the life of the fabric.
