Hiko Trek Bungee ION

Hiko Trek Bungee ION: Expedition-grade nylon spray deck with all the bells and whistles

Hiko Trek Bungee: Comfort for Demanding Hikers

The Trek Bungee model embodies the best that the innovative ION material has to offer in the all-nylon spraydeck segment. It is specially designed for sea kayakers and expedition paddlers who spend long days on the water and need absolute reliability. Thanks to its construction, the spraydeck responds perfectly to sudden changes in weather—from the hot summer sun to rough, cold seas.

Durable material and flexible chimney venting

The spraydeck is made of high-quality waterproof nylon that is optimized for heavy-duty use:

• Reinforced deck: The waterproof nylon paddle is reinforced with a special, highly abrasion-resistant fabric in the most exposed areas along the outer edge (where it comes into contact with the paddle).
• Adjustable chimney: The nylon tunnel offers ingenious temperature regulation. On hot days on calm water, you can loosen it and let it hang down for perfect breathability. As soon as the wind picks up or waves form, pull the tunnel up to your waist and secure it with the elastic drawstring—this will keep both you and the boat completely dry.
• Perimeter Bungee: The strong, flexible rubber around the circumference ensures a secure, dry seal against the boat's collar while remaining very easy to put on.

Implosion rod, pocket, and fixation loops

What makes the Trek model exceptional is its extensive list of standard features:

• Implosion protection: The spray deck is equipped with a removable inflation rod and a tightening strap that runs underneath it. This system perfectly reinforces the deck. It prevents water from pooling and withstands hard wave impacts that could otherwise rip the nylon cover off the collar.
• Mesh pocket with a zipper: The built-in front pocket provides secure yet easily accessible storage for small items (such as sunscreen, energy bars, or a whistle).
• Eyelets on the deck: Fixed eyelets are located along the front of the deck for easily attaching a map, a compass, or clipping on carabiners.
• Safety Handrail: The large, easy-to-feel front loop ensures a quick exit from the boat in the event of a capsize.

What is the ideal use for a spray deck?

Thanks to its sturdiness and features, the Hiko Trek Bungee ION is the perfect choice for:

• Challenging sea kayaking: It can handle big waves thanks to its implosion rod and provides space for mounting navigation aids.
• Expedition Hiking (Touring): The unmatched flexibility of the chimney vent prevents heat exhaustion during all-day paddling on lakes and wide rivers.
