Liquidlogic Stinger XP: Racing speed and an expedition-ready heart, all in one package
Stinger XP: Built to Conquer Distances
The "longboat" category (boats over 12 feet in length) is making a huge comeback. Paddlers are discovering that on large bodies of water or long rivers, speed is the most important feature. The Stinger XP measures over 380 cm, making it one of the fastest plastic boats on the market. While shorter creek boats get caught in the waves, the Stinger literally flies over them thanks to its momentum and length. It’s the ideal choice for paddlers planning trips down the Grand Canyon, long stretches of Alpine rivers flowing into lakes, or for those who simply love speed.
Hull and Hydrodynamics: Rocket-Like Speed and Penetration
The hull shape is a masterpiece designed for fast, whitewater conditions:
- Extreme length and waterline: It guarantees phenomenal speed in a straight line. The boat holds its course exceptionally well and minimizes effort during long crossings.
- The Giant Bow Rocker: To prevent a boat this long from getting stuck in the waves, the Stinger features a massive bow lift. The boat has a natural tendency to rise over obstacles and keeps the rider’s head dry even in the roughest rapids.
- Rounded bottom with a smooth edge: It provides excellent primary stability, is forgiving of mistakes, and allows for a smooth "glide" over rocks in shallow streams.
Retractable Skeg and Storage Compartment: Magie "XP" Version
The XP designation (eXtra Play / eXpedition) means that the racing hull has been equipped with touring features, making it the perfect crossover:
- Suspension Skeg (Drop-down Skeg): When paddling on a reservoir or a flat stretch of river, even a long boat with a rounded bottom may veer slightly off course, especially in a crosswind. Lowering the skeg “locks” the kayak onto a straight course. As soon as rapids approach, simply retract the skeg.
- Rear compartment with a divider: Accessible through a large, watertight rubber hatch. The rear of the boat can hold an incredible amount of gear—a sleeping bag, tent, stove, and food supplies for a week-long stay in the wilderness (self-support). The partition also serves as a safety buoyancy aid.
Outfitting BadAss: A Luxury Chair for All-Day Expeditions
If you plan to spend several days in a row on a boat, comfort is an absolute priority. Liquidlogic has equipped the Stinger XP with its renowned seating system BadAss Outfitting:
- Seat: Heavily padded with quick-drying, breathable material that provides excellent shock absorption and prevents back pain even after many hours of paddling.
- Foot and thigh rests: The perfectly contoured thigh supports provide 100% contact for Eskimo rolls and steering a kayak this long. The sturdy bulkhead reliably protects the ankles.
Suitable activities and field deployment
The Liquidlogic Stinger XP is a heavy-caliber expeditionary weapon:
- Multi-day expeditions (self-supported): Uncompromising capacity and speed for expeditions to places where civilization ends.
- Combined routes: Rivers with long stretches of calm water or that flow into lakes, where you'll appreciate a skeg and a fast waterline.
- Whitewater Races: Races in the longboat category (e.g., Devils Extreme Race, Green Race).
- Fitness and Recreational Paddling: A great and safe boat for training, even on calmer, less turbulent waters.
About Liquidlogic
The Liquidlogic brand is based in North Carolina on the banks of the Green River, where a legendary extreme race is held every year. It was here that the original Stinger model was born. Liquidlogic kayaks are characterized by top-of-the-line, extremely hard polyethylene and a strong emphasis on rider comfort.
Caring for the Polyethylene Hull and Skeg
The kayak is made of premium HDPE plastic. Ideally, store it away from direct, prolonged sunlight. Due to the presence of the skeg, it is critically important to rinse the skeg housing with clean water after every trip in sandy or muddy conditions to prevent the cable and spring from seizing up. Occasionally treat the underside of the rubber compartment cover with a mild silicone spray.

Bonus program and purchase benefits
When you purchase this expedition giant from us, you’ll earn a generous amount of credits toward our rewards program. You can use these credits for a significant discount on a lightweight paddle, a perfectly watertight neoprene spray deck, or safety gear and dry bags for your trips. We’re also happy to advise our customers on choosing roof racks and straps so you can transport your nearly four-meter-long boat easily and safely.
Expert advice: Paddling a longboat in whitewater is a completely different discipline than paddling a standard 2.5-meter-long creek boat. The Stinger XP is incredibly fast, but its length means it won’t turn on a dime. It requires foresight! You have to think two steps ahead, take wider approaches into eddies, and use your speed and momentum to cut through the interface. As for the skeg: use it exclusively in straight, deep water. As soon as you see rapids or a shoal, retract the skeg immediately—otherwise, the cable risks bending if it hits a rock!
