Rainbow Funny Twin: A stable two-person sit-on-top kayak for recreational paddling
Funny Twin: Hawaiian Style for Two
The Rainbow Funny Twin is designed with one main goal in mind: to bring you and your partner the joy of paddling without any unnecessary complications. The sit-on-top design eliminates any worries about getting trapped in the cockpit or the kayak capsizing. This two-seater model is the ideal choice for couples and families with children, who will appreciate how easy it is for both paddlers to get in and out, its high stability, and the opportunity to share the experience on the water.
Design and Hydrodynamics: Width and Self-Drainage
The hull's shape and the materials used ensure a long service life and safe performance on the water:
- HDPE material: Highly durable rotomolded polyethylene for maximum resistance to impact, abrasion, and UV radiation.
- Optimal stability: The 81-cm width ensures excellent initial stability for two paddlers. The boat remains virtually rock-steady even when launching from the beach, handling gear, or jumping into the water.
- Self-draining design: Built-in scupper holes automatically drain water from the deck, so you don't have to worry about waves or splashing water.
- A Date for Two: The optimal length of about 366 cm provides plenty of space for two riders and their gear, while maintaining good maneuverability.
Interior: Two comfortable seats and storage compartments
Comfort in the Funny Twin model is designed with an eye for detail:
- Two ergonomic seats: The removable, padded seats with backrests ensure a comfortable ride for both paddlers, even after several hours of paddling.
- Spacious deck: The spacious, open interior offers plenty of legroom for both passengers, as well as room for luggage, children, or even a pet.
- Storage: A rear storage compartment with a bungee cord and, if applicable, a front pocket for storing gear, snacks, or drinks.
- Safety features: Sturdy handles at the bow and stern make it easier to transport the boat and handle it both on land and in the water.
Suitable Activities and Uses on the Water
Funny Twin is a great companion for:
- Family trips: Children and beginners in particular will appreciate how easy it is to get on and off, the zero risk of getting stuck, and the high stability.
- Recreational paddling for two: Ideal for calm lakes, reservoirs, slow-moving rivers, and beaches where you mainly want to relax.
- Swimming and Snorkeling: The sit-on-top design allows both paddlers to easily jump into the water and climb back on directly from the water.
- Surfing on small waves: The stable platform can handle even mild waves near the beach.
About the Rainbow Brand: Proven European Quality
The Rainbow brand has long been recognized for producing high-quality, durable, and affordable plastic sit-on-top kayaks for recreational use. Their kayaks are made from highly durable polyethylene using rotational molding, which ensures a long service life and the ability to withstand demanding conditions. When you choose Rainbow, you’re choosing proven European quality with an emphasis on practicality and user comfort.
Caring for a Polyethylene Shell
The hull is made of high-quality, durable polyethylene (HDPE). To maximize its service life, we recommend storing the kayak away from constant direct UV exposure (ideally under a roof or a breathable tarp). After a trip, especially at sea, rinse the kayak thoroughly with fresh water. Regularly check that the seat bolts are tight and clean debris from the scupper holes.

Expert advice: Two-person sit-on-top kayaks like the Funny Twin are the ideal choice for couples and families who want to share the fun on the water. The key to an efficient and enjoyable paddle is synchronization. Coordinate your paddling rhythm with your partner—this will keep the kayak moving straight and efficiently without unnecessary spinning. Thanks to its 81 cm width, the kayak is extremely stable for two paddlers, so you don’t have to worry even when handling gear or jumping into the water. The self-draining holes (scupper holes) ensure that water automatically drains from the deck. Before each trip, check that the holes are clean and free of debris, especially after paddling in sandy water. Make sure both seats are properly adjusted and comfortable for both paddlers.
