Expert advice: The foam seat insert stays securely in place in the boat thanks to the way it fits against the sides of the hull. However, there’s one small catch—because it’s made of lightweight, non-absorbent foam, it has tremendous buoyancy. If you accidentally capsize on the river, the seat will immediately float out of the boat and drift downstream ahead of you. I therefore strongly recommend that, after inserting the seat, you always secure it on at least one side with a thin cord or bungee cord and attach it to the nearest fixed center stringer. This way, the seat will stay with you and won’t float away.
