The secret to the phenomenal success of the Hybris range lies in its hybrid architecture, which takes the best of several worlds. The foundation of stability is the massive side tubes (cylinders) made of premium, highly durable PVC. These cylinders act as the perfect stabilising floats. Even if one of the riders leans sharply, the large displacement of the side tube will prevent the boat from tipping over. This brings tremendous psychological comfort on the water, especially if you are paddling with children.

The most critical part of any inflatable kayak is the bottom, which comes into contact with the river bottom, branches and rocks on the beach. The Hybris 475 solves this problem by applying a massive protective shield made oftarpaulin (highly resistant tarpaulin). This material is virtually immune to normal abrasion and punctures from blunt objects. In addition, it has a completely smooth surface that radically reduces hydrodynamic drag, so the kayak glides smoothly and quietly across the water without being hampered by the friction of coarse fabrics.

8 cm HDDS floor: revolutionary rigidity without sagging

What makes the Hybris 475 a full-fledged alternative to rigid boats is its 8 cm thick high-pressure floor. It uses technologyHDDS (High Density Drop Stitch). For ships with lengths approaching five metres, the biggest enemy is the so-called "taco effect" - the collapse and sagging of the ship in the middle when a heavy crew enters it. This buckling cannot be prevented with conventional inflatable dinghy floors.

But Drop Stitch technology changes that. The top and bottom layers of the floor are connected internally by a dense network of tens of thousands of strong polyester fibres. This makes it possible to pressurise the floor to significantly higher pressures, resulting in a board with the rigidity of a wooden plank. Even with a maximum declared load of 280 to 285 kg, the Hybris 475 hull will not sag. It stays perfectly straight, slicing through the water with its sharp bow and converting all the energy from your shots into pure forward speed.

Space and outfitting: three seats and expedition equipment

This kayak is sized as a full three-seater model (tandem + 1). In the ECONOM package you will find three quality seats that can be flexibly attached to the integrated D-rings along the entire cockpit. On the bow and stern you will find integrated bungee straps (elastic nets) under which you can easily attach waterproof drybags, water bottles or spare clothes. In case of paddling in waves or heavy rain, the kayak is equipped with integrated drain valves in the bottom, through which you can quickly drain the accumulated water from the deck if necessary. Handling the nearly five-metre boat on land is made easier by sturdy carrying handles at the bow and stern.

Directional stability and slip: Hull and two-fin system

The longer the boat is, the better it should keep a straight course. This is doubly true with the 475, but SPINERA leaves nothing to chance. For absolute directional stability (tracking), the kayak is equipped on the underside with a system of two removablefins.

Why two fins instead of one big one? Splitting the stabilizing surface into two points better locks the stern of the boat in the water against unwanted deflection during more forceful shots of the rider sitting at the very back. Two smaller fins also have significantly less draft, which is a huge advantage when paddling summer rivers with low water levels - you'll get stuck on rocks much less often than in boats with one deep central fin.

By comparison, a rigid plastic three-seater canoe or kayak normally weighs 35 to 45 kilograms and requires two strong people and a roof rack on the car. Blow up the Hybris 475, fold it into the supplied transport bag, and one moderately fit person can throw it on their back or easily stow it in the trunk of a perfectly ordinary passenger car.

Kayak care and life extension

To maintain the properties of this hybrid jewel for many seasons, follow a few simple rules. After riding in salt or very dirty water, rinse the kayak with fresh water from the hose. Carefully wash any sand from the fin boxes and drain valve area.

Pressure management is essential: if you pull the boat ashore at lunchtime, be sure to press the valves briefly and release some air from both the tubes and the floor. The heat dramatically increases the pressure inside the chambers and could damage the glued seams. Store your boat for the winter clean, 100% dried and ideally in a tempered room where it will not freeze.
